My blogfriend Annie over at her blog,
The Savvy Tourist recently wrote of her appreciation for Cracker Barrel Restaurants. I wholeheartedly agree with her... This is a great chain of restaurants where you can experience some fine southern dining and ambiance
...and shopping.
Annie has inspired me to share my very own Cracker Barrel story...
Cracker Barrel...it's not just for breakfast anymore...
As we waited one Sunday for our table to become available, I strolled through the gift shop at our local Cracker Barrel. Give me a gift shop full of
countryesque knickknacks and jars of apple butter, though, and it's an absolute fact that I'll make a beeline for the clothing. You may or may not know that I am somewhat of a
sweater fanatic, so if there's a sweater to be found, my "Spidey-sense" will start to tingle. That morning I admired a checkered multi-colored cardigan I saw on display. Just as I started to examine the
beauty, our table was ready.
After thoroughly enjoying our tasty and most filling breakfast, we left the restaurant and I promptly forgot all about the sweater...at least for the time being. Several weeks later something reminded me of it, and the longing began. I decided I must have it! I must have the multi-colored cardigan for my own!
We returned to the gift shop only to find they were
sold out!

I was devastated, because now I'd made up my mind that the sweater must be mine! My disappointment was short-lived, however, when I realized with great glee that there was another Cracker Barrel only about twelve miles away where I might find my sweater! My wonderfully indulgent husband drove out of our way to the other restaurant in search of the elusive cardigan.
When I did not see one on display, my heart sank. I asked a saleslady at this store who said she'd need me to describe it so she could check "the back room." I did my best to describe - in as much detail as I could - a sweater I'd only seen once.
To my great joy, lo and behold, she emerged from said "back room" with the very sweater for which I'd been searching!
I think this is one of those stories you either completely understand, or which convinces you beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am certifiable!
In my defense, I've never worn it without getting at least one compliment on it, so I'm not the only one who thinks it's pretty...
I am glad I didn't have to travel half way across the country to find the sweater. If I hadn't found one at that location, I wonder how many I would have searched before admitting defeat?
I'll be back.
I agree...there are some really unique things to buy at Cracker Barrel!
Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your comment...technical difficulties!
I hope you'll stop by again soon!
