I have a confession to make.
I've been unfaithful.
Yep, two-timing even.
I've been writing for another website...
My new relationship is with the
Rich Women Sisterhood. It wasn't something I planned, but when the opportunity arose, I couldn't resist.
Here's the whole sordid story...
About a month ago I read an announcement on a blog I subscribe to. The author was seeking writers for a brand new website she was developing. The Rich Women Sisterhood celebrates the richness each woman possesses.
Well, I read the words and I felt a chill up my spine...this sounded too good to be true. "She's looking for me! I can do that!" I thought. Rarely - very rarely - do I demonstrate that level of confidence. I could almost taste it!
It's no secret that I've always aspired to be a writer - one that is read by more than my few precious visitors to Upside Down Cats. So I applied for the gig. I submitted a bio and samples of my writing. Now that in itself is a big step for me because as much as I love to write, I felt a bit vulnerable putting it out there for critical evaluation. Somehow I convinced myself that I was brave enough to take the gamble...
Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that... By the time I'd sent my application I felt so confident in my submission that I figured if it were rejected it was for not being a good fit and not for the quality of my writing. Besides, even if I'd been rejected for this site, there are plenty more websites in the sea, right?
So, holding Scott's hand with my left hand and the mouse in my right, I clicked "send."
Big cleansing breath...
Three days later, lo and behold...
I was chosen as a Featured Contributor! Yea!!!
I was absolutely thrilled! What validation!

So I've begun writing - dare I say it -
professionally.
The site is wonderful! It's an amazing compilation of resources to enrich - relationships, finances, health...every aspect of our lives. I am excited to be able to address such a wide variety of topics. I am also fortunate to be working with some lovely fellow authors. We are a diverse and interesting group of ladies.
The writing is coming very naturally to me. In addition, I am gaining an education in technology as I learn all the ins and outs of a new content management system, how to resize and upload pictures and count to ten when it sometimes doesn't work anyway. I went through what I call my "primadonna stage" where I steadfastly contended that as a
writer, I shouldn't have to know all that technical stuff... I am over myself now and I realize that mastering all these new skills further increases my confidence.
A big shout out to my tech coach, Scott!I feel very fortunate to be a part of this new and ambitious venture from the ground up. We are now in the place between our "soft launch" and the Grand Opening. Things are coming together nicely on the development side of things, thanks to the efforts of the Sisterhood's founder. I'll keep on writing, doing my best to fill the site with useful and inspirational material.
I believe that this is going to be a valuable resource for women of all ages.
Don't take my word for it...go check it out for yourself!
Congratulations !!! I always knew there was a writer in you besides your wonderful blog. I read your articles and that only confirmed my belief in you and your ideals and talent. Continue the good work. I look forward to reading more of your articles in the future.
I think this is the beginning of something great for you! I am proud of you.
